CBD is popping up everywhere, yet there are still many misconceptions for consumers. Here at Seropian, we feel it's important to share some basics as a brief introduction to CBD, we have utilised some of the most common searches entered into Google.
WHAT DOES THE ABBREVIATION "CBD" STAND FOR?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of many cannabinoids, or compounds found within Cannabis and hemp plants. There are 113 identified cannabinoids, CBD being just one of them.
IS CBD OIL LEGAL IN THE UK?
In short term, CBD Oil is legal Yes. However, for CBD Oil to be legal here in the UK, it must contain no THC, which is a controlled psychoactive substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
The Home Office states that CBD Oil can contain a maximum THC content of 0.2%.
WILL CBD OIL SHOW UP IN A DRUG TEST?
Using CBD shouldn’t cause a positive drug test result. Since most CBD oil contains only trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis and often the component tested for as it is ultimately an illegal substance. DOES CBD MAKE YOU HIGH?
No, CBD does not make you high. CBD by itself does not contain any of the psychoactive compound THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it cannot therefore make you feel high. Despite the fact CBD won't get you high, many users of CBD report feeling more relaxed when using the products.
DOES CBD CAUSE DROWSINESS?
Many users turn to CBD Oil to help them to relax, it doesn’t however cause drowsiness, some users in fact report feeling more alert and energetic from their use. Whilst it might help to make you calmer and aid with sleep overnight, it won't make you want to sleep during the day.
WHAT DRUGS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH CBD?
CBD may interact with other medications you are taking. If in doubt, consult with your doctor before you try any CBD products. The following drugs should not be taken with CBD.
- Angiotensin II blockers
- Beta blockers
- Calcium channel blockers
- HMG CoA reductase inhibitors
- HIV antivirals
- Immune modulators
- Oral hypoglycemic agents
HOW LONG DOES CBD LAST?
This comes down to a number of factors, the main being, the strength of your CBD Oil and how much you consume. From research and experience, a typical dose of CBD Oil as per our recommended dose, the effects of CBD Oil will typically last around 4-6 hours, for this reason, we recommend splitting your intake across three intervals across the day.
HEMP OIL vs CBD OIL
Hemp Oil and CBD Oil are not the same thing. While both derived from the hemp plant, they both contain compounds which can promote wellbeing, however hemp oil does not contain any CBD nor does it contain any cannabinoids which are associated with CBD Oil.
WILL CBD OIL CURE CANCER?
There is no evidence at present to suggest CBD Oil can cure cancer. Research is ongoing to discover what benefits medical cannabis has for relieving some of the symptoms associated with cancer treatment, however, it’s important to note that CBD Oil is different to medicinal cannabis.
CBD FOR BACK PAIN
The full effects on the human body from CBD are not yet known. Initial studies do seem to suggest that CBD can be effective at reducing inflammation, which can be a major contributor to back pain. CBD however, is still classified as a food supplement and as such is best used to help support a healthy lifestyle.
CAN I TRAVEL ABROAD WITH CBD OIL?
This very much depends on the location you are travelling to. Before travelling we would always advise checking the legal status of CBD in the country you are visiting. You will also need to comply with airline rules around liquids in your hand baggage - If in doubt, leave it behind.
CBD USE IN CONTROLLED SPORTS
CBD is not currently listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List, and so is permitted to use in sport. We would always recommend our Premium Isolate CBD for use in Sport, the purest form of CBD with Zero THC content.
